Much to our chagrin Thursday was a bust with skiing… so of course, we decided to try again. In an effort not to bore, I will spare the intricate details; basically, Friday was a carbon copy of the previous day’s events (with the addition of Dave’s mom, sister & nephew). However, right before we were going to turn the cars around, traffic started slogging forward around 11:30. Miraculously, we made it up to Steven’s around noon and had a good three hours of skiing before we had to take off. The snow, which fell throughout the day, was plentiful but a bit heavy.
Dave’s nephew, who just turned three, was adorable in a camouflage snowsuit and orange goggles (courtesy of some kind friends). Although well-outfitted for the snow day, I would bet skiing was not his favorite activity of the day. He was content to rid himself of the long things attached to his feet, go back to the lodge and build a “no-man”. I think it’s safe to say everyone was just happy we made it there, we were out of the car and able to breathe a little mountain air!

Sounds like the perfect birthday didn't turn out so well. Good thing you guys had a second chance to get up and enjoy the slopes.
Yeah, all is well that ends well - we had a great time on Friday.
