Out & About

While working from home, it's so easy to get logged on to the computer and let Benjamin just run wild & play with his toys.  But, I've been making a great effort to actually get Benj & I out of the house on occasion.  It is easier said than done, but here are a few of our "Out & About" days:

~lunch date~
We had to run some errands so I stopped to grab a Macho Burrito at Azteca and then we zipped across the street to one of Benjamin's favorite places, the Mill Creek Library Park.  In between stealing bites of  chicken, beans, salsa & chips, Benjamin was scrambling up the climbing wall, flying down the slide, running around and hurling wood chips into the air.  I count that as an awesome and most successful lunch date with my little guy!

wood! chips!

~sand & water~
Willis Tucker is our go-to play place because it is 1) close to home, 2) has a ginormous sand box, and 3) supplies hours of fun in the splash pad, which Benjamin calls the sprinkler!  As I've said in the past, this kid LOVES water.

Walk in the Park

On one of the more summery days last week, we set out on an evening adventure: Destination -Dairy Queen and Cougar Park.

Blizzards were on the {dessert} menu that evening; Strawberry CheeseQuake for Dave and Brownie Batter for Me (has to be chocolate, you know!). Oh, and lest you think we're awful parents for not getting one for our son, we shared with Benjamin, who isn't quite ready for a solo Blizzard experience yet.

Then, off to Cougar Park we went!

This is one of my favorites park to go with Benjamin because it has a junior & senior play area. The junior area is Just-His-Size perfect and Benjamin loves it. That night, for some reason, he was bent on running to the street, but we managed to coax him back to play land and let loose with his energy reserves.

It was a fun night and a nice opportunity for Dave to see Benjamin in action, as we typically go on these park & play adventures while Dave is hard at work.

70 in Seattle

Sun's Out - Time for a Day at the Beach!

Last Friday was one of the first decent sunny days here in Seattle. Sunny enough for shorts and t-shirts. Sunny enough for swinging, spinning, digging, running - and eating sand. The "eating sand" thing turned out to be a bit yucky, but we've got a curious kid. I didn't get a picture of it, but he actually lied down in the sand - prone position, face inches from the sandy ground - and began lapping it up like a dog. It was amusing but kind of gross too. Luckily he discovered the yuck factor quickly and began spitting it out.

Besides some grit in the teeth, it was yet another fun outing with our fabulous friends, Ethan, Evan & Michelle.

(Photo op with "The Guys", here is The Before and After of Benjamin's favorite line - "cheese"!)

Here's hoping that the super sunny, summertime silliness continues!
