Yard Care and Personal Safety

Two very important lessons came out of this week's FHE lesson/activity. We needed to cut, re-seed, fertilize and water our little sodded lawn, as well as tackle the vicious weeds taking over the steep slope down the hill from the lawn. Benjamin was kind enough to help us illustrate these two bullet points; never fear, his hard work was rewarded handsomely with a warm, gooey brownie and a warm bath.

We dig dirt.

We were so over-the-moon excited about the procurement of our new home; when we moved in we focused solely on the inside of the house & making it a Home. Months later, we've realized that we did not properly tend to the care & winterization of our yard. Thanks to a quick trip to Lowe's and a truckload of borrowed yard tools, we were fully equipped to tackle the task at hand - digging our hands into the earth and making our yard shine! Benjamin got in on the action, uprooting several plants - and chucking them down the hill, again and again.

Safety First

Our family knows the value of good, quality safety equipment - from experience! That taut, purple line keeps our little guy from tumbling down the hill, over the rock wall (8' drop) or falling through the water drainage grate. Money well spent, and great use of our extensive collection of climbing gear.
