the first day of spring is one thing, and the first spring day is another. the difference between them is sometime as great as a month.

We celebrated the first official day of Spring by hanging out at our neighborhood park for the first time since last fall (except for the sledding party, but that's entirely different). Although it was cold and the wind gusts were intense, Benjamin went bananas as he ran, slid, jumped and hopped all over the park. While laughter and glee filled the air and were fitting for a celebration of a much-awaited spring, frozen hands, drippy noses and rosy cheeks should be reserved for all things winter.
It was lovely to get outside and take in all of that goodness, but I think we may have to wait to relish the outdoors again when the temperature warms and the sun decides to make an appearance - when we are blessed with the glory that is a true Spring day in Seattle.
