Slump and Wait

I absolutely love Dr. Seuss. His whimsical nature and free-flowing writing style whisk me away to those magical, wonderful places every time. But in the book, "Oh, The Places You'll Go", he speaks of being stuck in - The Waiting Place.

The Waiting Place…for people just waiting.

Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come, or a plane to go or the mail to come, or the rain to go or the phone to ring, or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No or waiting for their hair to grow. Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite or waiting for wind to fly a kite or waiting around for Friday night or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake or a pot to boil, or a Better Break or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.

That's pretty much where we've been lately, folks - in a waiting slump:

Waiting to get well, to stop coughing, hacking and aching. Waiting for Friday and the weekend... and then waiting for Monday. Waiting for paint to dry, buds to bloom and waiting for tax day. Waiting for the perfect sale, the perfect stuff to stage our house and waiting to find a new perfect house. Waiting to put the house up for sale, waiting for eager future homeowners to come calling, waiting for the mail. Wating for the rains to stop, the clouds to clear and the sun to come out.

We've been doing a lot of waiting, but we are excited to escape the waiting place and discover what's ahead:

No! That’s not for you!

Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing. With banner flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high! Ready for anything under the sky. Ready because you’re that kind of a guy!

So, bring on the Boom Bands, the Excitement and Bright Places because we are growing ever tired of these slumpishy-waiting places!
